"A little house well filled; a little land well tilled"
Name: Abigail Emily Maria
Born: April 1977
Likes: Rain, gardens, cooking for others, moonlight, the cello, anything by Hayao Miyazaki
Dislikes: Arrogance, housework, shopping malls, willful ignorance, fake food (aerosol cream, eg.), anything by George Bush (either of 'em)
What I do: voluntary work with women asylum seekers and refugees, attempt to tame my allotment, attempt to tame my children, advance my culinary skills, watch very bad kung fu movies, watch very good anime, clog up our windowsills with plants in various stages of growth.
What I will one day learn to do: Aikido, make proper patisserie, speak Danish
Recently enjoyed: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, My Neighbour Totoro, Charlie and Lola (look, we've got kids OK? One day we'll get to watch our own stuff...)(and anyway, Charlie and Lola rock)
Current status: Currently entertaining wild ideas about starting my own organic-veg-gardening-consultancy-type business; getting excited about the teeny tiny seedlings appearing on my allotment; ditto about the slightly larger plantlings growing in my garden (especially the lettuces, I've never been able to grow lettuces before...); learning how to Instant Message my brother, who's upped sticks to the other side of the globe; trying to eat healthily... oh, all sorts of things really. Spring is in the air, which means more gardening, more daylight, and, one day soon I hope, more energy.
